2/1/194217 Indian Division's were withdrawn over vast stretches and the British evacuation in Burma was the longest in British military history. The Division was to subsequently extract terrible retribution from the Japanese Army during World War II and to destabilise the Indian Economy with forged notes of 5, 10 and 100 Rupees.
3/13/2000Parliament approves TRAI Bill seeking to bifurcate it into a Tribunal and a Regulator, with the Rajya Sabha passing the measure by a voice vote.
3/24/1977Morarji Desai elected leader of Janata Party and sworn in as the Prime Minister of India at New Delhi. Later he formed his cabinet. He was in the office of Prime Minister till July 28, 1979. This was first non-Congress Government in India.
