Hello All,My mother will be in US for next month. She is diabetic and requires insulin injection. Can she buy it over the counter by showing Drs prescription from India ?Any kind of advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance,
I tried to use a doctors prescription from India beccause my insurance would pay for it here, but the pharmacy did not accept the prescriptions. You can try to see a doctor here if you have travelers insurance. You might be able to bring your own insulin through the airport.
It depends on what kind of insulin and state regulations. You can check at Walmart pharmacy for OTC insulin that cost around $25(if they sell most probably its Relion regular insulin) and for other than regular insulin you need prescription
You cannot buy like that here. You need to have a prescription from a local doctor. Also the insulin injections may be expensive here in US. You can go to a local pharmacy and talk to them to get some ideas how you can address your situation. You may be taking a travelers insurance for your mother. You can also talk to them if insurance covers the insulin and what dosage and what brand etc etc.
